Sludge Deep Dewatering System

This system can process influent sludge with a solids content as low as ~2%. By adjusting operational parameters, it significantly increases the dewatered sludge solids content (20%-40%). The resulting dry sludge can be used for incineration, sanitary landfill, or general land application.

Compact in design, the system is suitable for both new sludge dewatering projects and retrofitting existing plants. Its fully enclosed structure ensures a clean working environment while achieving deep dewatering with low energy consumption, making it an eco-friendly and low-carbon solution.

To enhance sludge thickening/dewatering efficiency and enable more economical downstream treatment per predefined plans, the process begins by directing sludge from the thickening tank to a conditioning tank for property modification. The pretreated sludge then enters the thickening section to reduce its moisture content to approximately 85%. Depending on sludge characteristics, an appropriate amount of conditioning agent may be added, followed by thorough mixing and high-pressure dewatering to further reduce moisture content to 60% or below.

    Design advantages

    ● The concentration section has been changed to an integrated concentration and pressing unit, which greatly saves space and the front-end sludge dewatering equipment. After this stage, the sewage can be dewatered to around 85%.

    The rakes in the concentration section feature a new design that causes the sludge to tumble during operation, allowing more free water to be filtered out through the filter cloth. Refer to the figure below.

    The surface of the sludge rake features an arc-shaped design, which more effectively facilitates the tumbling of the sludge.

    ● The mixing of lime, iron salt, and sludge is carried out using an integrated spiral mixing and crushing device, as shown in the figure below.

    As shown in the diagram, this component consists of three truncated double screws primarily responsible for conveying and mixing. The section between the two screw segments contains crushing blades (see right figure), which break down the mixture of sludge and lime, resulting in more thorough blending and reduced agglomeration.  

    ● Lime dosing is carried out using a precision feeder, which controls the feeding screw through a frequency converter. The addition amount is adjusted according to actual conditions to ensure an appropriate mixing ratio and controllable moisture content in the discharged sludge cake.

    ● The equipment is pre-fitted with an air blow connection, which is positioned behind the cleaning water pipe. After the filter cloth is cleaned, the air blow function removes residual moisture, enhancing the cloth's permeability and resulting in lower moisture content after subsequent pressing.

    ● The roller arrangement follows a scientific design with progressively increasing pressure. The pressing force intensifies towards the later stages, as illustrated in the diagram below.
